
An Invitation to Grow Deeper Roots
Dear Fellow Mama,
If we could sit down together and have coffee and pour our hearts out to each other right now, I would.
This world has changed in a matter of months. A reality that none of us dreamed of when we started off this new year has now become our every day life.
Regardless of your opinions about the current issues at hand, there is one thing that we all have in common. We are all living in this weird time together.
How is your heart doing?
Motherhood is a big enough privilege and challenge to balance on a normal day.
Motherhood during a time when our country and the world are in upheaval raises the stakes even higher.
As if it wasn’t enough, Motherhood is now coupled with anxiety, isolation, & cabin fever.
It can feel overwhelming.
It can feel like you’re getting conflicting information about what’s “right” for the moment, and no matter what you do you can be sure you will be judged by someone – especially if it’s documented on social media for the world to see.
Can I tell you something I have realized?
That anxiety you feel…
That heaviness…
The questions about the future…
The grief over the way life was…
The uncertainty over what a “new normal” will look like and what it will mean for your family…
It’s all an invitation to develop deeper roots in our Heavenly Father.
When the world feels upside down, He is a sure foundation.
What are the opportunities you have in this time?
Maybe you have the opportunity to really slow down enough for good quality time with your kids.
Maybe you have the opportunity to read and expand your knowledge and understanding of topics you’ve had on your bucket list.
Maybe you have the opportunity to learn how to manage your anxiety in a way that’s actually healthy.
Lean into your Heavenly Father during this time. He knows it’s hard. He knows it’s weird.
He’s also bigger than this situation.
Accept this invitation to grow deeper roots in Him.
So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.
Colossians 2:6-7
My prayer for you during this season is the same prayer that Paul prayed over the Ephesians in Ephesians 3:14-21:
For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name.I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being,so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love,may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ,and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us,to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
